EASTERTIDE JAZZ

SACRED MUSIC in the Christian tradition is inspired by re-telling biblical passages in the personal musical language and religious tradition of the composer. 

Some of the most famous Western Classical works are based on the last days of the life of Jesus Christ and the 50 days from Easter Sunday to Pentecost Sunday, the Eastertide. 

Rarely, jazz artists were commissioned to reflect musically on these essential Christian events - but how does EASTERTIDE sound in JAZZ?  

EASTERTIDE JAZZ 2020 is a grass-roots approach for a "virtual jazz festival"
 incorporating musicians and poets from the past and today with texts in English and German from the BlueChurch network for jazz and theology. This website will be updated with sounds and texts over the 2020 season of EASTERTIDE with the vision to develop into a physical festival in the coming years.
